Study of improving the environmental conditions and future monitoring along the coastal area in Aqaba. The existing situation has been reviewed. Background data have been collected and key issues have been identified. A number of scenarios for the future development in the region will be outlined. The scenarios will be based on alternative projections of the physical, social and economic development in the region. The Projections will include development in population and employment, industry, tourism & transport up to year 2005. Two computer models are used. A hydraulic model which simulates ocean currents and tidal patterns, field temperature and pollution concentrations in the sea. The air quality model, which simulates wind speed, turbulence fields and dispersion of air pollutants in the atmosphere.
